So to pursue her mission she admits herself to Horizon as a student with a problem under the name of Amanda. Kat asks Peter for permission to climb Dog's Peak before she graduates. Peter agrees but only if the other cliffhangers are willing to do so too. Sophie on the other hand is in charge of admitting the new Horizon student. The cliffhangers set out on their hike and Amanda demands that she comes along. Peter finds it suspicious because no new admit had ever wanted to do anything. Shelby and Scott start the day by making out in the equipment room. Scott confronts Shelby about her past. He's interested in knowing more about her yet she's still hesitate in sharing her story with him. Kat walks in on them and tells them to hurry up and get packed. Amanda starts to pry in the cliffhangers business by asking questions concerning their problems. Some threaten her to mind her own business while others share their stories with her. Peter calls Shelby aside for a phone call. Shelby thus learns that her stepfather had a heart attack. She seems to be expressing anger. Peter suggests that she stay at Horizon while the others go on the hike so that she can sort her feelings out. She refuses and tells Peter to try and make her stay at Horizon. Peter gives in and Shelby goes on the hike. Peter tries to talk to Shelby knowing that she doesn't really like her stepfather, but she doesn't want to talk about it. Daisy and Scott wonder why Shelby is acting so weird. Scott doesn't know what he did to make her so mad. Daisy tells him that it's not about him. Peter and Sophie discuss Shelby's isolation. Peter tells Sophie that her stepfather had a heart attack. Sophie tries to come and comfort, but Peter stops her. Sophie questions Peter's motives and Sophie soon realizes the problem lies with the stepfather. The cliffhangers start to become suspicious of Amanda's motives as well. Juliette approves while the other cliffhangers think she's a nark. Peter grills Amanda as Sophie discovered that Amanda's an investigator. She worries about Amanda's presence because she believes that the cliffhangers have been spilling their guts to her. Peter says not to worry because they have nothing to hide. Sophie then goes to say that she hopes Shelby doesn't hide her feeling any longer. Peter tells her that Shelby will hold in her feelings in as long as she has too and that they shouldn't push her to just let it come out of her and only to support her in her time of emotional distress. The have a break and Kat gives a speech. Peter asks Amanda she has anything to say to the group. She refuses to say anything. Scott agrees with her by saying that "You open your heart to someone and they don't want to speak to you anymore", while looking at Shelby. Shelby then reveals that her stepfather had a heart attack. Scott feels bad about what he did and apologizes. Shelby begins to break down and walks away. Scott follows her only to uncover the pain she had been hiding for so long. He tries to find the root of her problems only to find her blow up and break down in the process. Hurt by her actions and the fact that she had been hiding the truth from him for so long, Scott stands in the distance with a hurt expression on his face. Daisy comforts Shelby as she fetches water. Shelby spills her guts to Daisy revealing the reason why she had avoided Scott so much was because she doesn't think she fits in his cookie cutter world. The minute Shelby looks into Scott's face, she knows she'll end up telling him everything and she doesn't think she can handle him rejecting her for what she's done. Daisy tells her it's poison and that Shelby should spit it out. The cliffhangers start to tell Amanda lies of what they know and their past. Shelby starts to break down and tells Amanda her story of how she turns tricks. Scott realizes that what Shelby had just shared wasn't just a story she made up and that it was real. Amanda's cover is blown and the cliffhangers look at her in disgust. The continue with their mission anyway. Kat finishes her mission and plants her flag on Dog's Peak. Kat comes back with honor and pride as Shelby comes back to Horizon only to find Scott distance from her. Amanda is sent home. Daisy comforts Shelby and Shelby tells Daisy that she has become a very good friend to her.
