• Written by:Jeff Cohen • Directed by:Alan Simmonds • Aired: May 19th,2000 The episode starts out with Scott creeping through the school's lodge. ?It's got to be her.? he exclaims. Suddenly, from the top of the lodge's balcony Shelby and Daisy appear. At first it looks as if Shelby and Daisy were looking for Scott. It wasn't until Shelby paused for a second in between her conversation with Jewel to pull out a script and reading her lines. Ezra had supposedly wrote a play for parents' week called ?Bobby Joe and Gillian?. The play is a remake of the classic ?Romeo and Juliet?. The scene that they were practicing was the famous balcony scene. As the cliffhangers debated about the similarities of Ezra's play and the original story written by William Shakespeare, Peter comes in and kindly tells Shelby that he would like to speak with her in private. Shelby's mother apparently has problems dealing with things at home. It seems that the weight of caring for Shelby's step-father, who had a heart attack, had became too much and she needed Shelby to be there to help care for him. When Shelby receives the news that she must leave, she is in dismay, but found it typical for her life to take another wrong turn. She becomes bitter when she finds out that she doesn't even get a weeks notice and has one day to say good bye to the people she has gotten so close too. Peter's brother Marc, who he hasn't really spoken to for almost seven years decides to pay Peter at visit at Horizon. Apparently, he is upset with what his father left him with in the will. Peter had received the majority of the inheritance from his father's death, leaving him with some old cuff links. Peter had received a little more than $12 million dollars, and decides to sell his dad's company and set up a Horizon scholarship fund with the money. Marc finds this very upsetting because he had put so much work into that company. Meanwhile, Sophie starts to feel very sick. Daisy finds her hunched over in pain, and that is when Sophie admits to having endometriosis. This causes her to not be able to have children. She confides in Daisy that she has an appointment with the doctor early next morning. Shelby shares the fact that she is leaving school for good to Daisy. Shelby doesn't want to tell Scott or rather she doesn't know how to. She tries to get the courage to tell Scott a couple of times, but nothing seems to come out of her mouth when she looks into Scott's eyes. Daisy tries to comfort Shelby and be her support. After finishing a scene from Ezra's play, it became clear that it was time came for Shelby to leave, she still didn't have the courage to tell Scott. While getting up and walking to Sophie, Shelby looks at Daisy and decides to turn around and give Scott and biggest, warmest hug could possibly give him. Scott stunned by Shelby's sudden reaction, simply replies, ?I wasn't that good.? As she leaves the room with Sophie, a tear suddenly begins to slide down Daisy's face. At the end of the episode, we find Daisy reading a letter Shelby left behind for her. While Scott begins to grieve at the fact that Shelby wasn't there and the fact that she didn't even say goodbye. Sophie goes into surgery, while Peter makes a deal with his brother by selling the business to Marc for $3 million and in return he'd get a scholarship program set up with the company and his dad's cuff links. |
